Blackbird Calling is the richly-textured story of a young woman who moves to the prairie pothole region of Alberta and encounters the tameis—undesirables living in double houses on a dead-end street. She projects local prejudices until she befriends a family of tameis and discovers their stories and culture in a way that seeps into her identity. Join us for this compelling narrative gleaned from dozens of interviews with Indigenous Albertans striving to maintain their culture and pride in often-hostile environments.
